Telephony

The Inspired Networks Open Source Telephony Platform provides a resilient and scalable solution with industry leading functions and features at a highly competitive price point.

Scaling from one to thousands of extensions and trunks, the PBX can be deployed on premise using physical hardware or VMware virtualisation, in a private cloud or in the public cloud including Amazon Web Services EC2.

Available either on a per extension per month basis, or as a dedicated PBX with no costly per feature licensing and low cost support, the platform can easily be expanded with minimal additional investment.

The Inspired Networks PBX is based on best of breed technologies providing a stable and expandable environment for telephony.

CentOS – CentOS is an open source version of Redhat Enterprise Linux, one of the most stable distributions available.

  • Asterisk – Asterisk is an open source framework for building communications applications. Today, there are more than one million Asterisk-based communications systems in use, in more than 170 countries. Asterisk is used by almost the entire Fortune 1000 list of companies and over 200 global communication providers.

  • Apache/PHP/MySQL – Including Linux, there products make up the LAMP stack which drives over half of the top one million sites on the Internet.

  • FreePBX – The leading PBX Management suite for Asterisk

  • EnLight – Inspired Networks own central management and information portal, providing a centralised corporate directory over multiple PBX and sites with both user and administration portals. Enlight provides a feature rich environment for both users and administrators allowing access to advanced features such as hot desking and multi user conferences without needing high end handsets.

The Inspired Networks Open Source Telephony Platform can scale to large volumes of calls and extensions. Using commodity hardware, thousands of simultaneous calls can be handled with over 10,000 extensions supported on a single PBX. Multiple PBX can be linked together either for geographical support (i.e. one PBX per office) or for automated failover in case of hardware failure. With resilient internet connectivity a single PBX can provide telecoms for sites and users all over the world providing significant cost savings.

Scale is normally limited by available bandwidth and channels from the SIP provider rather than the PBX. The PBX can be used with multiple SIP providers for resilience or to spread costs. For example. All landline calls could be directed via one provider while mobile calls are sent via another.

Inspired Networks currently have customers who regularly have:

  • Over 1,000 active extensions

  • Conference calls with over 200 attendees

  • Multiple PBX presented as a single entity via Enlight

  • Hot standby PBX with nearly seamless failover

  • Simultaneous support for multiple trunk providers including SIP, IAX & ISDN with automated failover between technologies.

The Inspired Networks Open Source Telephony Platform can result in significant cost reductions, with one customer saving over £70,000 per annum just by switching from commercial conferencing systems to the one provided as part of the platform.
